Husky Football Blog

The latest news and analysis on the Montlake Dawgs.

Afternoon links, notes

I’ve arrived at UW where the sun is struggling to break out. Maybe we’ll be lucky and it will be a dry day.
For those of you who want to pick a good day to come out here, think about Aug. 18, next Tuesday. UW is scheduled to hold a scrimmage that day at 3 p.m. Then, after that, the Seahawks will hold an open practice at Husky Stadium, as well. So that would be a good day to get a good two-for-one of the two home teams.
As for a few links. …
— The Outland Trophy Watch List is out and there are no Huskies included (kind of thought there might be a chance for Daniel Te’o-Nesheim UPDATE — And as many of you have pointed out — and glad to see so many people reading despite my ineptness on this issue — he’s not really eligible since he is a DE and this is an award for interior linemen).
But there are six players on the list UW will face this season, including one from Idaho — guard Mike Iupati.
— ESPN.com’s Mark Schlabach has a couple of mentions in the Huskies in his “What’s Hot (and Not)” list for 2009.
— The Huskies are No, 10 in the first Bottom 10 of the year (that Apple Cup outcome rearing its ugly head yet again for the Huskies, who surely would have been ahead of UW, you’d think, if not for that game).
— ESPN also has its first bowl projections of the year, none of which include UW but are interesting to peruse nonetheless.
— Here is the latest news from LSU, where the Tigers are unveiling some surprising lineups as they hold their first full-pads practice.
— I missed this the other day, but Mesphin Forrester has been waived by Jacksonville.
— This overview of the Steelers’ secondary situation says Roy Lewis could have a tough time making the team this year.
All for now.
