Early practice update

Practice has begun at UW today with the team in “half-pads” — shoulder pads and helmets and shorts or sweats.
Here are the running backs going through a drill on the bag in the early going.

Having pads of any sort on means there figures to be some heightened intensity today.
Former QB Marques Tuiasosopo, now an assistant strength coach, was exhorting some of the offensive linemen before the practice. “There’s no hiding today, huh?,” Tuiasosopo said. “You guys should have been begging the coaches to put on the pads earlier (which they can’t do due to NCAA rules).”
A few minutes later, as the players began to gather for some drills, Tuiasosopo asked “who are the leaders on this team? Who is going to take ownership?”
As for personnel news, CB Dominique Gaisie remains out with a Clearinghouse issue. Word is some resultion could come in the next day or two. Ominously, sounds as if it’s pssible the resolution is that he wouldn’t be eligible right now, though hard to know if that would mean he would’t be eligible for the season.
Also, TE Kavario Middleton was not on the field early on, apparently taking care of a family issue.
DE Talia Crichton, who sat out yesterday with a groin issue, was back in pads today.
