A few more press conference notes

I’ll have some more detailed quotes from the press conference later. First, a few other notes to pass along. …
— Coach Steve Sarkisian said DT De’Shon Matthews does not have a serious knee injury, calling it a bruise, and will be reassessed during the week. He remains listed as a backup at one DT spot.
— He said he is still unsure of the status of DE Darrion Jones, who missed the Idaho game with a knee bruise suffered against LSU. Jones is listed as the starter at one DE spot this week.
— He said Everrette Thompson continues to struggle to overcome an ankle injury, the reason he has yet to play this season. He said there is a chance Thompson could be redshirted and that that decision would be made after this week’s game if he still hasn’t played.
— The loss of David Batts means there are just two junior college players remaining of the six the team signed last February — TE Dorson Boyce and P Will Mahan. Sarkisian has already said he does not intend to make JC recruiting much of an emphasis going forward, but this may only reinforce that thought. By my count, that leaves UW with 81 scholarship players on the current roster, including the walk-ons who were recently given scholarships. And I think there is no doubt now the Huskies will have room for a full recruiting class in February.
— There are 7,500 unobstructed view tickets left for this week’s game against USC. The team will arrive at The Zone at 10:45 a.m.
— The game will be televised regionally by ABC. The announcers will be Terry Gannon and David Norrie.
All for now.
