A few more Oaks Christian, recruiting notes

Our new prep reporter/blogger extraordinaire Mason Kelley is doing all kinds of preview stuff this week of the Oaks Christian-Skyline game, and he passed along some leftovers he has acquired along the way related to UW.
First, he talked with CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, who told him that the game and the hype surrounding it should only help the Huskies.
“These guys coming up is almost an advertisement for the University of Washington,” Lemming said. “Washington seems to have recruiting going, but it doesn’t hurt to have possibly your two best prospects coming up to play while the other kids, juniors and sophomores, are watching. It’s a recruiting source for UW.”
Asked about the state of Washington’s recruiting so far, he said “getting (Nick) Montana and Erik Kohler is what they needed to get everything going. For Washington to be back to the elite, they have to recruit California. That’s obvious. The last coaches couldn’t do that. Getting these guys is setting the tone for them to possibly get more by February. I think Washington is going to have one of their better years.
He continued to stay that “Washington has always been a name, but you have to get the recruiters to do it. It comes down to guy that knows the area and the head coach knows the area, coming from USC. That really helps out. I think the Montana catch will prove to be one very big one for Washington, because it’s going to open up the flood gates for California, the really good California kids.”
He also said that this staff has the potential to beat out every California school for California kids, the exception being USC.
Kelley also spoke with Oaks Christian coach Bill Reddell, who again praised the recruiting efforts of the UW coaches. “The University of Washington has not only got a great kid, they’ve got a great family coming into that school. They’ll be very proud of Montana and the family and the fact that he’s selected the University of Washington is a big feather in the cap of Steve Sarkisian. That’s a great recruit he pulled off,” Reddell said. “I’m really very happy for the University of Washington to pull two recruits out of here, Montana and Kohler. I think Sarkisian is going to do a fantastic job at the University of Washington, in fact, he already has watching the LSU game. The team looks significantly improved and then they were able to win last Saturday.”
