Our daily examination of what’s out there about the Huskies and the game this weekend. …
— Times columnist Steve Kelley wrote about the persistence of UW walk-on guard Greg Christine.
— My story for today focused on Matt Barkley and includes the thoughts of Steve Sarkisian, who helped recruit Barkley to USC. Here’s an LA Daily News story with more specific details on his injury, updated after practice Tuesday. I talked to Barkley at mid-morning and at that time he was adamant he would be playing and said the shoulder wouldn’t be an issue. Sounds like things changed a little later in the day.
— The Orange County Register also says Taylor Mays remains uncertain.
Nick Daschel says the Huskies can beat USC Saturday.
— So does a Bleacher Report columnist, who lists five reasons USC can lose to the Huskies.
— Here is ESPN.com’s preview of the game.
— Go near the bottom of the chat wrap for Pat Forde of ESPN and he says USC will win but it will be a lot close than people think, probably a seven-point game.
— UW commit Keanon Lowe made The Oregonian’s pre-season all-state team as both a DB and receiver.
Greg Biggins has an update on UW’s recruitment of RB Deontae Cooper.
— Rivals.com publishes ratings for all positions each week and has Jake Locker No. 15 at QB and Kavario Middleton No. 25 among tight ends.
— Our prep blog has this interview with Oaks Christian coach Bill Reddell and info on the Skyline-Oaks Christian game.
All for now.
