Update on USC quarterback situation

While there have been some reports indicating that the Trojans may have to start Aaron Corp at QB Saturday, the official word from the school remains that there is no decision yet.
In fact, according to this update from the school’s official site, Matt Barkley is expected to throw today during practice. USC coach Pete Carroll is quoted as saying he’ll see how Barkley does and then go from there, saying that a decision might not come until kickoff.
UW coaches have said that the uncertainty of the QB situation does not impact their preparation.
“Whoever they have at quarterback is good and they’ll know the system and will have a lot of help because of the supporting cast,” UW defensive coordinator Nick Holt said Wednesday.
The biggest differences between Corp and Barkley is size and running ability. Barkley is listed at 6-2, 230, Corp at at 6-3, 200. And Corp is regarded as much more mobile, rushing for 1,197 yards and an average of 8.4 yards per carry as a high school senior in 2006 when he was a Parade All-American, among the usual litany of prep honors attached to seemingly every USC recruit.
Corp hasn’t played this year after suffering a small crack on the head of his left fibula, after which Barkley was named as the starter.
Corp saw mop-up duty in two games last year completing 2-4 passes for 14 yards.
