Butler named Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week

The good news keeps on coming for UW as linebacker Donald Butler has been named as the Walter Camp Football Foundation Defensive Player of the Week.
He was an obvious choice for UW’s player of the game as he had 12 tackles, two for a loss — including the one right before halftime that didn’t give USC enough time to get off a field goal — an interception and a fumble recovery.
I would imagine he would also be the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week when that is honored tomorrow, and I would think Erik Folk would have a shot at Special Teams Player of the Week.
Butler keyed a UW defensive effort that allowed only three points the final 49 minutes of the game after USC jumped out to a 10-0 lead.
“It was just going back to basics, to playing sound football, guys not getting cut on the back side not getting reached on the front side, just play backyard football and have fun,” Butler said after the game.
