Wednesday a.m. links — Locker, Willingham and more

Another unseasonably hot day looks on tap here which should at least help prepare UW for what looks like a hot Saturday night in Palo Alto. …
— For my story for today’s paper, I wrote about the progress of Jake Locker, including some thoughts from QB guru Steve Clarkson, who has worked with Locker, Nick Montana, Matt Barkley, Jake Heaps and a slew of others. I talked with Clarkson for a while on Friday as he was in town for both the Skyline-Oaks Christian game and the UW-USC game and I’ll pass along a few other thoughts from him later.
Bud Withers has his weekly Pac-10 notebook leading with an item on Chip Kelly refunding the expenses for a disgruntled fan for the Boise State game.
— MaxPreps.com has a look at UW’s 2010 recruiting class and how the momentum of the program is building.
— Here’s an interview from a week ago Saturday with former UW coach Tyrone Willingham in which he discusses what he’s doing now — basically, not working and waiting to see if anything opens up after this season. Willingham is currently living in the Palo Alto area though I wouldn’t expect to see him anywhere near the Huskies this weekend — just not what ex-coaches do.
Jon Wilner looks at the best- and worst-case scenarios for Stanford and says this week’s game against UW looks like a “swing” game, which for the Cardinal could ultimately determine whether it gets to a bowl game. Same could maybe be said of UW.
— Wilner also has UW No. 2 in his weekly Pac-10 ratings and rates the upsets USC has suffered in recent years by shock value.
— Four of five experts at CBSSports.com pick Stanford to win.
— Talk about another rapid rise for Steve Sarkisian — he’s now No. 1 on Nick Daschel’s weekly rating of Pac-10 coaches after residing in the cellar when the season began.
— Orange County Register columnist Randy Youngman — who could double for Dave Grosby if he ever relocates to Seattle — has some interesting thoughts on the UW-USC game.
— And here are lots of quotes from lots of quotes Pete Carroll.
— Here’s an update on Stanford from the San Francisco Chronicle.
— Finally, a few more Stanford notes.
