The I-will-never-get-that-song-out-of-my-head edition. …
— For my main story today I wrote about former longtime UW assistant Randy Hart, now at Notre Dame.
— Times columnist Jerry Brewer compares and contrasts Jim Mora and Jake Locker trying to adjust to new roles.
Nick Daschel says Jake Locker remains the Pac-10’s best player.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller picks Notre Dame to win 38-24.
— Miller also wonders whether Notre Dame will run or pass against UW, or maybe both? I’m with “both” as I think UW’s secondary remains a question mark even if the run defense was more of an issue last week.
— ESPN.com’s Brian Bennett has three things to watch for Notre Dame this week. And pay special note to what he writes about Notre Dame maybe using the Wildcat, something UW has been preparing for in practice this week.
— USA Today columnist Mike Lopresti says Notre Dame may truly be on the way back. And a key stat in his column is that Notre Dame has allowed just six sacks in four games. UW’s defense has just four sacks in four games — three against Idaho — so on paper the Irish could have a big edge there this week.
— A Bleacher Report columnist thinks Notre Dame is favored by too much against UW.
— In what might be a good omen for the Huskies, the line is actually going down a little bit, as low as 12 at some books, from opening at about 13.5 everywhere. It went nothing but up in Stanford’s favor last week, which foreshadowed Stanford’s big win.
— The Chicago Tribune writes that other than Golden Tate, the Irish are still looking for offensive playmakers to emerge.
— Here’s another angle on Hart.
— Lots of good stuff on Notre Dame from the NBCSports Irish blog.
— Here’s one gambler who says take the Huskies and the points.
— The UW cross country team will also compete at Notre Dame this weekend.
— Lots of Pac-10 links from The Oregonian.
All for now.
