Are the Huskies headed to the Emerald Bowl? That, and more. …
— Here is Percy Allen’s wrapup of practice Friday as well as a note on UW’s success on opening-game drives.
—- Bud Withers rates UW fifth in the Pac-10 and picks the Wildcats to win Saturday, 28-24.
Nick Daschel rates Jake Locker first and Chris Polk ninth among skill position players in the Pac-10 this week.
— Daschel also picks UW to go to the Emerald Bowl and makes the good point that the Huskies have to go at least 5-4 in conference play to make it to a bowl (unlike everybody else in the conference other than WSU that won at least two non-conference games) meaning if the Huskies do get to 6-6 or better, their placing in the final conference standings will likely be higher than some other bowl qualifiers.
— Arizona coaches are worried that Locker now has some help.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller writes more about the Tsunami relief effort at Saturday’s game.
Jon Wilner picks Arizona.
— Long Beach Jordan is playing Oaks Christian tonight in what would have been a matchup of two UW-bound QBs — John Timu and Nick Montana — before Timu suffered a season-ending knee injury.
— Lots of Pac-10 links from Ken Goe.
— Arizona is now favored by 3.5 points at most books. The line trends haven’t been good omens for UW this season.
All for now.
