Tuesday a.m. links — who is the highest-paid assistant in the Pac-10?

That’s a question Bud Withers of our staff addressed today. And the answer? Nick Holt. Well, at least of the eight public schools in the conference that are required to divulge such info. Here’s a chart detailing salaries at the eight Pac-10 public schools. Withers’ story also looks at what has made salaries rise so quickly in recent years.
Jerry Brewer, meanwhile, wrote about Steve Sarkisian handling the first major blunder of his head coaching career.
— And I wrote this wrapping up Monday’s press conference.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller looks at the Pac-10 at the halfway point of the season and calls Washington the biggest surprise.
Nick Daschel of Buster Sports takes an off-beat look at the Oregon-Washington rivalry.
— Ken Goe writes that the Huskies will be ready for Oregon.
— Goe also notes how much the rivalry has changed in recent years.
— Oregon safety T.J. Ward may try to play for the first time since being injured against Boise State.
— The Eugene Register-Guard offers this Pac-10 notebook, including the stat that UW’s 41 kickoff returns are the third-most in the nation.
— And this is a couple days old now, but this is a really good read on a day in the life of a football coach, as the Register-Guard followed Chip Kelly around from sunup to sundown.
— The RG also has this look at the rivalry from the Ducks’ point of view.
— Lots of other Oregon news from the Register-Guard.
All for now.
