Tuesday practice report

The final Competition Tuesday of the year is over for the Washington Huskies, practice done for the day on what was a clear, brisk afternoon.
We don’t get access to Steve Sarkisian on Tuesdays so no overview of practice from the coach.
The only personnel news is that C Ryan Tolar sat out practice — official word is that he is sick — and DT Cameron Elisara didn’t do any team work as his stinger again acted up a bit. However, defensive coordinator Nick Holt said later that he thought Elisara would be fine for Saturday’s game against Cal. With Elisara out, Alameda Ta’amu and Everrette Thompson took all the snaps with the starting DT.
LB Cort Dennison also left for a little while with an injury of some sort to his right shoulder, though he later returned.
Also, Chris Polk again wore red to protect his shoulder, though he did all the drills and appeared fine. He wore red all last week, as well. S Victor Aiyewa also wore red.
The rest of the lineup appeared status quo.
A notable performer was WR Jordan Polk, who caught passes all over the place, reminiscent of his fall camp performances that earned him so much praise early on. He missed most of last week with migraines but appears to be just fine now.
Among the aspects the defense worked on in practice is Cal’s version of the Wildcat formation. Holt said later the Bears used it 10-12 times or so against Stanford and it figures to again be a staple of Cal’s attack against UW Saturday.
