Thursday morning notes, links

Links compiled while wondering if the No. 1 song in Jake Locker’s I-Pod is “Should I Stay or Should I Go?”
— Speaking of Locker, the time for his decision is nearing and I wrote this story today attempting to look at a lot of the various issues involved. I’ve got some leftover notes and thoughts on this I’ll get to at a later non-gameweek time. But hopefully this story answers a lot of the basic questions about the timeline, etc.
— NFL reporter Danny O’Neil chipped in with this story about how pending changes in the league’s labor agreement could impact Locker’s decision. Though you’ll note the comment from Locker’s father, Scott, in my story that he doesn’t think it will be that big of a factor in the final decision.
— The UW Daily has its own story on Locker.
Ted Miller picks the Bears to win 35-21 and Oregon to win tonight 31-28.
Jim Moore, however, picks the Beavers to win in overtime (and I always love it when Ted and Jim disagree).
Nick Daschel also picks the Beavers, which given his record most of this season means load up the truck and put it on OSU.

— Daschel also assesses the performances of Pac-10 QBs this season and says UW got about what everyon should have expected from Locker.
— Here’s an update on Cal’s Wednesday night practice.
— The Cal student newspaper says the Bears remember well their poor performance here in 2007.
Greg Biggins has a couple of updates on players UW has been recruitingTroy Hill and Demetrius Wright — but indicates that Oregon is now the leader for Hill and USC a heavy leader for Wright. he also writes that Dietirch Riley will be hard to lure away from USC.
— The San Jose Mercury News has this update on the coaching search at San Jose State and sounds as if Tyrone Willingham is not in the mix, but two other coaches with UW ties are — former Husky player Nigel Burton (1996-98) and former UW assistant Tom Williams, who was here from 1999-2001. By the way, word is no UW assistants at the moment are involved in any job searches elsewhere.
— Also, a reminder that we’ll host our weekly live chat today at 2 p.m. and we’ll also have a live chat with UW AD Scott Woodward Friday at noon.
All for now.
