Kearse, Butler, Te’o-Nesheim earn all-conference second team honors

The All-Pac-10 Football Team has been announced and three Huskies are represented, all on the second team — receiver Jermaine Kearse, defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim and linebacker Donald Butler.
Also, WR Devin Aguilar, OLB Mason Foster, OG Senio Kelemete, QB Jake Locker, TB Chris Polk, C Ryan Tolar and CB Desmond Trufant were all named honorable mention.
All the awards are voted on by the conference coaches and obviously that gives great insight into which players opposing coaches feel are the best among the Huskies.
Locker obviously may be somewhat of a surprise that he didn’t get a higher honor given his rising draft status, but it was a competitive year at the QB spot this season. Polk also probably could have gotten at least second team mention most years but there were a lot of good TBs in the conference this season.
It’s the third straight year UW has not had a played named to the All-Pac-10 First Team. The last time it happened was 2006 when C.J. Wallace was honored. In fact, he’s the only UW player to be named to the First Team since 2003.
In the major awards, Stanford RB Toby Gerhart was named offensive player of the year; DT Brian Price of UCLA was named defensive player of the year; Oregon’s Chip Kelly was named coach of the year; Oregon RB LaMichael James was named offensive freshman of the year and ASU LB Vontaze Burfict was named defensive freshman of the year. Here’s the release from the Pac-10 web site.
