Monday links — ex-UW assistants in the news

Lots of ex-UW coaches in the news, for starters. …
— The UNLV job is down to two, according to various reports — Montana coach and former UW assistant Bobby Hauck, and Dennis Franchione, who also would have been glad to take the UW job a year ago. While he was on some initial lists, UW defensive coordinator Nick Holt was never in the running for this one.
Mike Denbrock, UW’s offensive line coach from 2005-08, is apparently headed back to Notre Dame, where he worked before coming to Washington.
— The school reports that ticket sales have continued to be strong since the announcement a week ago of Jake Locker’s return, with 550 deposits on new season tickets processed since then.
— Speaking of Locker, two Sporting News writers debate the merits of his decision.
Greg Biggins reports that a weekend trip to Texas Tech may have swayed Hawaii linebacker V.J. Fehoko from favoring UW to now favoring the Red Raiders.
— He also reports that California RB Josh Quezada, who took a trip to UW, is bound for BYU.
Ted Miller has a really good interview with ASU coach Dennis Erickson as he reviews where his program is heading into an off-season that will set up a make-or-break fourth season in 2010.
— UWTV, a TV station by the school and available on channel 27 on Comcast in the Seattle area, plans to air some classic Husky games on New Year’s Day and then every Monday the rest of the year.
All for now.
