Monday afternoon notes — Seahawks apparently set to hire USC’s strength coach

As Danny O’Neil mentioned on his Seahawks blog earlier today, the Seahawks are in the process of adding a new strength and conditioning coach.
That the Seahawks might make a move at that spot with the addition of Pete Carroll as coach had some wondering if the team might make a run at UW’s strength and conditoning coach, Ivan Lewis, who also worked as an assistant strength coach at USC before coming north last year with Steve Sarkisian.
However, it is expected that the Seahawks’ new strength and conditioning coach will be Chris Carlisle, who has held that job at USC the past nine years, all under Carroll. And that obviously means no worry about Lewis departing UW.
— A Tampa Bay blog mentions UW offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier as a candidate for the QB coaching job with the Bucaneers, citing his relationship with the team’s new offensive coordinator Greg Olson (who is a native of Richland). But sounds as if it’s a long shot that Nussmeier would be interested.
— UW announced today that there is still space available for the annual Signing Day Celebration and Auction. Details are here.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has a good breakdown of what to look for throughout the Pac-10 as recruiting season nears a close.
— Here’s Jon Wilner’s take on what’s going on at Oregon, as well as the latest from The Oregonian.
All for now.
