Cooper Pelluer to UW, and a few more notes

In case you missed it in our live recruiting chat earlier today, Skyline High linebacker Cooper Pelluer has committed to UW after being offered a scholarship by Husky coaches earlier this week.
Skyline coach Mat Taylor confirmed the news to the Times that Pelluer was decommiting from Hawaii and instead will sign with UW tomorrow. At the moment, he’s the 30th commitment for UW’s Class of 2010, all high school players.
Pelluer is the son of former UW assistant coach Scott Pelluer, who was also a standout LB at Washington State from 1977-80. Pelluer worked as an assistant at UW under Jim Lambright and Keith Gilbertson. Cooper Pelluer’s uncle is former UW QB Steve Pelluer, the 1983 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year. Pelluer is listed at 6-4, 224 and has battled some injuries throughout his career so UW coaches apparently view him as a player with a lot of upside.
Obviously, a late offer seems to indicade that UW coaches may be reading the tea leaves on some other uncommimtted players and are taking the sure thing. We’ll have more later on Pelluer.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— As noted earlier, rumblings are that DT Ricky Heimuli of Salt Lake may be down to Utah and UCLA for his final two — there have been multiple media reports to that effect for several days now. He is expected to announce his decision at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow on ESPNU.
Sean Parker, a safety from Harbor City, Calif., still considering UW, will annonce at 7:10 a.m. tomorrow o0n ESPNU while LB Josh Shirley is expected to announce on Prime Ticket (an LA-based sports cable network) tomorrow at 12:35 p.m.
— The latest post by ESPN’s Greg Biggins indicates UW may be out of it for CB Jeremy Ioane of Honolulu. He writes that the buzz from local coaches is that Notre Dame will be tough to beat.
— And Dave Reardon of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin writes that he hears that DE Kona Schwenke is also likely headed to Notre Dame. That pretty much covers the uncommitted players realistically still considering UW.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller has a good breakdown of early enrollees around the Pac-10.
— For those who have asked, I plan to have the blog going at 7 a.m. tomorrow to keep up with events, so you will be able to tune in here all day.
All for now.
