Huskies finding a new defensive end on the basketball court?

The school has confirmed this morning what UW basketball player Clarernce Trent first Tweeted last night — that he intends to turn out for the football team when spring practice begins today.
The 6-5, 225-pounder will start out as a defensive end and he has been officially added to the roster today. He just concluded his freshman season with the hoops team.
I don’t see any mention of football in his basketball biography so I don’t know what his football history is — that’ll be something to try to find out at practice today. But it’s obviously an intriguing addition at a position where UW sorely needs some bodies.
For now, he is a walk-on to the football team. If he is still playing football in the fall then he will have to be moved to a football scholarship. At the moment, it doesn’t matter. (There are rules in place to prevent teams from stashing football players on scholarships on other sports so if he actually plays football and is on scholarship, he has to be on a football scholarship).
Part of the reason UW needs bodies at defensive end is due to the legal issues facing Andru Pulu. Pulu was arrainged in King County Court this morning on a second-degree assault charge and pleaded not guilty. He will return to court April 26 for a case setting hearing (when a trial date will be set). He is indefinitely suspended until this situation is resolved, according to UW coach Steve Sarkisian.
Also, don’t forget the live chat at noon.
