UW changing format of coaches tour

The month of May also has for years meant the beginning of the UW Coaches Tour, where Husky coaches would gather with boosters to play golf and otherwise just generally mingle.
The UW has released word today, however, that the Coaches Tour as fans have known it is no more.
Instead, a new event, called “Huskies Celebrating Huskies,” will take its place.
UW officials say the new event will be much less formal than the old coaches tour — for starters, there will be no golf.
It will also focus on the entire family as there will be a fun zone for kids and Harry the Husky will be on hand to take pictures.
There will also be more of an emphasis on the social hour and meeting the coaches.
There will continue to be the dinner and talks by all of the top coaches.

The old coaches tour lasted for 38 years. A UW press release states that the new format is part of a “vision” of football coach “Steve Sarkisian and a new generation of coaches.” (You can read the release here).
Here are the dates and locations for the “Huskies Celebrating Huskies” events:
— May 11 Tacoma, Philip Hall, UW Tacoma campus
— May 13 Portland, Venue Pearl
— May 18 Bellingham, Bellwether Hotel Ballroom
— May 20 Yakima, Apple Tree Resort
To learn more and to register, visit UWalum.com/cheer or contact the UWAA at 206-543-0540.
UW basketball coach Lorenzo Romar will not make the Portland stop but will be at the others, while Sarkisian will be at all four stops.
