Husky Football Blog

The latest news and analysis on the Montlake Dawgs.

Monday night notes — Huskies in Vegas Bowl?

ESPN.com’s Ted Miller, bless his heart, gets the ball rolling on bowl predictions for 2010, projecting the Huskies to play TCU in the Vegas Bowl.
That’s just fine by me, though I worry a trip there may require some creative expense accounting. As we all know — and all together now — all of these sorts of projections, pre-season polls, magazine rankings, etc., are meaningless. But for UW fans, certainly more fun to read this year than the last few, when the Huskies were almost unanimously absent.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— The first of the Huskies Celebrating Huskies events takes place in Tacoma on Tuesday with UW coach Steve Sarkisian and basketball coach Lorenzo Romar in attendance. More info here.
— Before Sarkisian heads to Tacoma, however, he will take part in a Seattle Times live chat at noon. I’ll link it on this blog, as well.
— The National Football Post becomes the latest to list Jake Locker as its number one prospect for the 2011 NFL Draft. But the item also includes the somewhat odd assertion that it’s still a question whether Locker prefers football over baseball. Maybe here being close to it we’ve seen it more clearly and it’s more obvious here. But it’s hard to figure how that could still be in reasonable doubt when Locker has chosen football at every turn the last few years, doing little with the sport since signing with UW other than few games in 2008 for his hometown amateur team and letting the Angels pay him $250,000 for the right to keep his rights for six years just in case.
— Lots of expansion rumblings out there today, much of it likely way too overheated as it might concern the Pac-10— everything that came out of the conference meetings last week indicated that it’s a much cooler issue right now than is often portrayed. As is often the case, Jon Wilner has some of the best takes on today’s rumors.
All for now.
