BYU RB Unga won’t be back this season

Some of you had asked if there was an update on BYU RB Harvey Unga, who was dismissed from school recently for an honor code violation.
There is today as the school has announced that Unga won’t be allowed back into school until Jan., 2011 at the earliest. That means he’s likely to turn pro immediately — he had considered leaving after last season before returning — and obviously won’t play against UW when the Huskies travel to Provo on Sept. 4.
Unga rushed for a school-record 3,455 yards in his BYU career, including 136 in a win overe UW at Husky Stadium in 2008, and would obviously have been a centerpiece of the BYU offense in 2010.
As I noted in this item in April, the first one up to replace Unga is likely to be junior J.J. Di Luigi. This story out of Salt Lake in April detailed BYU’s depth at TB after Unga.
Also, don’t forget the live chat at noon.
