Patriots release Stanback

I won’t always make separate entries about transactions involving former Huskies, but I thought it worth passing along today that the Patriots have released one-time UW QB Isaiah Stanback.
Here’s a report from BostonHerald.com while Pro Football Talk notes that Pats had to make some moves to make room for the signing of Derrick Burgess, while also wondering if there’s another team in the NFL that will be interested in a player like Stanback, who has skills to play multiple positions but has yet to become a regular at any.
Here’s another take from a Pats blog that indicates little surprise that Stanback, who is also a graduate of Garfield High, was released.
Last season was Stanback’s third in the NFL after finishing up his UW in 2006.
