Monday morning links — More on expansion

And there is more out there about expansion than I could ever possibly link. But I’ll try to pass along a few of the more interesting things that hit the high points:
— I’ll be on with Dave “Softy” Mahler on KJR-AM in Seattle today at 11:05 a.m. to talk about expansion.
— Also, one thing to reiterate is that under no scenario that I have heard, nor in any report posted anywhere, is there any thought that the current 10 members of the Pac-10 won’t still be members of the Pac-10 when the dust settles. And yes, that means all the Northwest schools. The Pac-10 is only talking addition.
— And worth remembering, as the LA Times notes today, that so much of this is based on what Nebraska does. If Nebraska stays in the Big 12, it’s possible nothing happens with the Pac-10 (or that it maybe pursues a Colorado-Utah addition so it can have 12 teams and more easily enact a conference title game). And while there are reports out there of the Pac-10 possibly sending out invites this week, nothing is likely to happen until Nebraska makes its move.
— More on how this all revolves around Nebraska from the Dallas Morning News.
— The Orlando Sentinel has a nice overview of everything expansion-related with lots of links included.
— Here’s more on the Pac-10’s decision yesterday from the San Jose Mercury News, which also includes Larry Scott’s comments on expanding the conference’s exposure into Asia. That’s something he has said from the start, but sounds as if he is beginning to have some more specific plans of how to put it into place.
Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com has a good look at how the twisting-in-the-wind of Kansas proves how football is the driving force behind everything in college sports.
Dan Wetzel of Yahoo.com writes that if the Big 12 breaks apart, it will have only itself to blame for opposing a playoff a couple of years ago.
— Good column on all of this from George Schroeder at the Eugene Register-Guard.
— Finally, in one fun non-expansion link, LostLetterman.com has a look at the 10 worst calls in college football history (and shockingly, only two involve the Pac-10). Most of these are pretty well-known, but I’d never heard of that Hawaii-Fresno State call a couple years ago. Pretty entertaining.
And promise to have some non-expansion Husky-type news on the blog here later today.
