NCAA to release USC findings at noon, Colorado to join Pac-10, and Locker a Playboy All-American

What a hugely momentous day in the Pac-10 this is shaping up to be.
First, the NCAA will discuss the findings in the USC investigation at noon. It will feature Paul Dee, a former AD at the University of Miami who is the chair of the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions.
It is expected then that the two-year bowl ban, loss of 20 scholarships, and other penalties will be officially announced.
There are no shortage of stories out there about all of this. Here’s one from the LA Daily News, the Orange County Register, and the LA Times.
As for Colorado being added to the Pac-10, it is now being widely reported as a done deal, including here by the Boulder Daily Camera, which says the school will hold a press conference Friday at 11 to announce the move.
As Jon Wilner notes, adding Colorado is part of a move to expand to at least 12 regardless of what else happens with the rest of the Big 12 teams. Presumably, Utah comes along as the other team if for some reason the Big 12 stays together and Texas and the other five schools stay put. Basically, the Pac-10 had decided to expand to at least 12, and Colorado was going to be a part of either scenario, so both sides decided to go ahead and make the move.
How the 16-team league will work has been pretty clear. It’s a little less clear how a 12-team league will work in terms of the divisions in the conference and all of that. So still some unanswered questions here.
As for UW, adding Colorado will mean some scheduling changes down the road as the Huskies and Buffs hada a two-year contract in 2015 and 2016 for non-conference games. Those now become conference games.
Finally, UW QB Jake Locker has been named to the Playboy All-American team. I think he’s the first UW player to get that honor since Reggie Williams in 2003. Here’s the official release on that.
