Monday lunchtime links and notes — More on Texas staying put, and some actual Husky news

First off, the latest on the expansion front, which appears to be trending even more strongly in the direction of Texas staying put and the Big 12 staying together with 10 teams.
Here’s the latest from The New York Times, reporting that an agreement could be announced today.
ESPN.com’s story has also changed markedly in the last few hours, from earlier reporting that Texas to the Pac-10 was immiment, to now reporting that Texas is considering staying put. One thing worth noting in that story is that it sounds as if the Big 12 will be able to get some adjustments in its TV deals to come up with more money to keep it together. That was perceived to be a stumbling block, that the Big 12 was locked into some contracts that now were unfavorable. But amending those has apparently been a key to this last-ditch effort to keep the BIg 12 together.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— Bodog.com has released odds today on which team will represent the Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl. Here they are:
Oregon 7/4
Oregon State 5/2
Arizona 4/1
UCLA 6/1
Washington 13/2
Stanford 8/1
California 10/1
Arizona State 16/1
Washington State 60/1
— Finally, the New York Jets have signed former UW punter Jared Ballman. Interestingly, he’ll be competing with Nick Folk, older brother of current UW kicker Erik Folk.
All for now.
