So what will they call the new conference?

Probably not accurate to term the topic a raging debate, but it’s definitely of interest what to call the Pac-10 now that it has 12 teams.
Well, from what I’ve heard, they’ll simply call it the Pac-12, just adding the two new teams to the number, as they did in 1978 when Arizona and Arizona State were brought on to the conference that had been known as the Pac-8.
In fact, apparently they had this in mind when they designed the new conference logo earlier this year.
I took a picture of it last month, which you can see to the right, when it was being painted onto the new basketball court at UW (the visible bars are because the court was closed during the renovation).
Word is the logo was designed so it would be seamless to change the number — looking at it, the zero to the six would have been almost unnoticeable (maybe that was the hope even then).
I had more on the new logo last month.
