Oregon picked to win Pac-10

Oregon has been picked to win the Pac-10 in the official media poll that has just been released here at the conference’s annual media day at the Rose Bowl.
UW has been picked sixth.
Here is the poll with first-place votes in parantheses and total points based on a 10-9-8 system of 35 voters.:
1, Oregon (15), 314
2, USC (12), 311
3, Oregon State (3), 262
4, Stanford (1), 233
5, Arizona (2), 222
6, Washington (1), 209
7, Cal, 175
8, UCLA (1), 134
9, Arizona State 81
10, Washington State 39
Indicative of how wide open the conference race appears this season, seven different teams received first-place votes, including UW, a record.
The three-point margin between Oregon and USC is also the closest in the history of the conference.
