Friday a.m. links — Huskies 36th in Coaches Poll

The first USA Today Coaches Poll of the season is out, and the Huskies have received 26 votes, good for 36th place.
That places them fifth among Pac-10 teams with Oregon No. 11, Oregon State No. 22, Arizona at No. 29 and Stanford at No. 32 (remember that USC is not eligible).
Of other UW opponents: Nebraska is No. 9, BYU is 28 and ASU and Cal are tied at 42. That means UCLA andn WSU are the only Pac-10 teams that did not receive votes.
As you can see, UW coach Steve Sarkisian is among the 59 coaches participating in the poll this year, as is WSU’s Paul Wulff, Stanford’s Jim Harbaugh, Oregon State’s Mike Riley and Arizona’s Mike Stoops among Pac-10 coaches.
— Here’s my story off of yesterday’s press conference.
— The LA Times cites Steve Sarkisian as one of five intriguing coaching storylines this season.
Vince Grippi with his usual links around the conference. A couple to highlight — USC CB T.J. Bryant was injured in an altercation during a conditioning drill last week; and Ted Miller says don’t be surprised if all 10 Pac-10 coaches survive into 2011.
— Also a note that Gig Harbor Austin Seferian-Jenkins is reported on his visit to Texas this weekend. He’s expected to make a decision on Aug. 16.
All for now.
