Monday morning links

It’s the first Monday of the first gameweek of the season, so lots of stuff out there.
— I’ll start with my story for today’s paper comparing the career trajectories of Jake Locker and Carson Palmer (and to be clear, I’m not comparing their styles as I realize those are vastly different). As noted in the story, UW coach Steve Sarkisian saw the similiarities, as well, and hopes that Locker’s senior year can come close to approximating that of Palmer. We’ll see.
— ESPN’s Greg Biggins has an update this morning on Brett Hundley. It’s a pay story so I won’t copy and paste it (though Ted Miller rehashes some of it here). But the story pretty much just recaps what has been known so far — that Hundley wrote on his Facebook page he has made a decision and will announce it Sept. 6. Biggins leaves open that Hundley could still choose either UW or UCLA and the Arizona Republic reported this morning that Hundley hasn’t told the coaches at either school. However, some recruiting analysts seem to think Hundley is leaning to UCLA. Scout.com’s Brandon Huffman wrote on his Twitter page that UCLA “is in a good place” with Hundley.
Kasen Williams and Austin Seferian-Jenkins were guests on Q It Up Sports on KCPQ in Seattle last night. Here’s a recap and video.
— Miller also has 10 fearless Pac-10 predictions.
Jon Wilner has the latest on the Pac-10’s splitting up of divisions and other items related to expansion — the short version is nothing yet set in stone. Most interesting is that he reports that there will be some major scheduling and financial concessions made to the Northwest schools if there is a North-South split keeping them away from the LA schools. Also, conventioinal wisdom is that if there is a Pac-11 next year, (Utah but no Colorado) there will be no divisions, that waiting until there are 12 teams.
— Here’s a story on former UW QB Ronnie Fouch winning the starting job at Indiana State.
— The Salt Lake Tribune looks at how BYU will try to defend Locker. The Deseret News has a similar story as does the Provo Daily Herald.
— Lots of Pac-10 links from Vince Grippi.
All for now.
