At right is the post card UW sent out this week as part of its promotional effort for Jake Locker. UW obviously hoping it has more to sell after this week’s game, and the Vegas odds continue to favor UW by 13 points.
But as I wrote for my story today, Syracuse feels like it’s a different team than it has been the last few years, with second-year coach Doug Marrone having made some significant changes that players feel are beginning to pay off. We’ll see another chapter in all of this unfold tomorrow.
IN OTHER NEWS….
— Bud Withers writes about the big weekend in college football and also picks UW to win 37-13.
— Marrone, however, told the Syracuse Post-Standard that he “absolutely” expects the Orange to win this weekend (the story also includes some keys to the game from the SU side).
— Syracuse Post-Standard columnist Bud Poliquin, though, says it doesn’t look good for the Orange this weekend.
— More SU links and picks from the Post-Standard. And lots of game coverage planned from the Post-Standard, as well.
— Post-Standard writer Dave Rahme also has a video preview of the game.
— Rahme also writes that Syracuse’s defensive ends are the key to keeping Locker in check.
— One Syracuse columnist thinks the Orange will win Saturday.
— Jon Wilner picks UW to win.
— As linked in the comments section, here’s the Sports Illustrated picture of Talia Crichton’s hit in the BYU game.
— Nothing really happened when Pac-10 ADs held a conference call this week.
— ESPN.com’s Greg Biggins has an item on Richmond, Ill., QB Adam Pittser setting his visit for Oct. 8-9. Pittser says he has a good relationship with UW QB coach and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and notes that UW is his first scheduled visit.
— Lots of Pac-10 links from Vince Grippi in Spokane, where I think the sun may actually be out today.
All for now.
