Friday links — Big Red coming to town

There may be a Sea of Red coming to town today, though frankly, all that’s visible outside my window this morning is this haze of gray fog.
Lesser Seattle is definitely doing its job today, unlike the 1997 Nebraska game, which is you saw the video below, was played on one of the most beautiful days around — UW used an overhead shot of Husky Stadium that day for years on its media guides.
It won’t be the picture-perfect day outside tomorrow, but a UW win would be pretty enough for Husky fans.
Onto some links. …
Rashaan Shehee will be the Husky Legend tomorrow and is profiled by GoHuskies.com. (I once covered a game Shehee played in high school, so I know I’m getting old).
Bud Withers picks Nebraska to win 23-17 (and also doesn’t think Oregon will show any mercy on Portland State, now coached by former Husky Nigel Burton).
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has a bunch of news and notes about week three in the Pac-10.
— The New York Post says the game is a “Taylor-made steal” for the Huskies.
— The Omaha World-Herald looks back to that 1997 game to note how Nebraska can adust to crowd noise.
— The World-Herald’s Nebraska notebook points out that the Cornhuskers will not have a walk-through at Husky Stadium today, and won’t see the stadium until showing up for the game Saturday.
— The Lincoln Star-Journal has a feature on Jake Locker a thread for predictions on its NU blog, a Thursday practice report that includes an injury update (nothing really new), and an item that doubts UW can pull off the same scheme against Nebraska that worked so well last week.
— Another Thursday NU practice report.
— Nebraska StatePaper.com has five keys for the Cornhuskers tomorrow.
— ESPN.com’s Big 12 blog looks at the test awaiting NU’s QBs this week and also picks NU to win 24-13.
Jon Wilner picks UW to beat the spread but Nebraska to win.
Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian has a capsule look at the game.
— CollegeFootballTown.com has a few items on the game.
Finally, I’ll lay out what I hope to have on the blog the rest of the day — I hope to get the Pac-10 picks up within an hour or so, a few leftover notes and quotes from UW coaches at mid-day, and then the pick on the UW-Nebraska game in mid-afternoon.
