Thursday’s post-practice report

The Huskies’ Thursday bye week practice is over and there isn’t much to report.
Despite a steady rain, Washington was outside, choosing to work out in the elements instead of inside at Dempsey Indoor.
Here are a few of the things coach Steve Sarkisian said he’s liked about the Huskies during the bye week:
He praised the team’s focus on special teams.
He was happy with the improvement of young players like safety Sean Parker, Zach Fogerson (an O’Dea graduate), Kevin Smith and Hau’oli Jamora who were given more reps.
“Those guys really stood out to me off the top of my head,” Sarkisian said.
He also said the team is getting healthier and they worked to get their mental mindset where it needs to be in order to be competitive in the Pac-10 the remainder of the season.
When asked about practicing in the rain, Sarkisian joked, “That was the reward.”
He said he never considered moving Thursday’s practice inside.
“It’s our weather, we have to get used to it,” he said. “We’re going to have to play in it before the year is done.”
