Live chat at 12:30 p.m., and Thursday morning links

First off, a couple progamming notes. I’ll hold a live chat on here today at 12:30 p.m. Also, I’ll be on with Brock and Salk at 10 a.m. Brock Huard is analyzing the UW-USC game this week alongside Mike Bellotti and Carter Blackburn.
Now, the links. …
— For my main story today, I wrote a little feature on RB Jesse Callier. Callier no longer has his bleached-out hair, for what that’s worth, something he sported for a little while along with fellow true freshan Kevin Smith. “That was just something I used to do in high school,” Callier explained, saying he and Smith were just bored one day and decided to go with the new look.
— ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. held a live chat yesterday and was asked how much Jake Locker’s status has dropped so far. Said Kiper: “Locker can redeem himself. He dropped from 1-4 in my book. He doesn’t have a great team around him. They haven’t been to a bowl game since ’02. He has to work on his accuracy and game management skills. He has games against USC, Arizona St., Oregon State, Arizona … he’ll be on the field with Luck Oct. 30 … he has 8 games left against good football teams.”
— UW has announced that former OL Benji Olson is among those who will be inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame next month.
— Former UW assistant and current Husky Honk Dick Baird says anyone who thinks Steve Sarkisian shouldn’t handle play-calling duties should “get a life.”
— The LA Times focuses on the other Husky coach making a return to LA this weekend, Nick Holt.
— Here’s the LA Daily News notebook, including an item on backup QB Jesse Scroggins, who was recruited by UW and has kind words for Sarkisian.
— The Orange County Register has lots of good stuff on its USC blog.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller picks USC to win 38-27. Miller also asks if the real Jake Locker is ready to step up.
— BetFirms.com picks USC 34-27. (And I have yet to see anyone pick UW yet, though I know Baird will, so that’s one).
— SportsMemo.com doesn’t make a game prediction but says to take UW and the 10 points.
All for now.
