Friday morning links — line keeps moving in UW’s favor

What has’t been a good omen for UW so far this season is in play again this week as the line has continued to shift in Washington’s favor this week — going from a pick ’em to as much as Huskies by two points at some sports books.
UW’s spread record mirrors its overall record, as the Huskies covered against Syracuse and USC, and lost both ways against BYU, Nebraska and Arizona State. (The line moved about four points in UW’s favor in the days before the BYU game).
Unlike a week ago, the weather shouldn’t be a real big factor, as it’s supposed to be clear on Saturday. Though it could be cold — check out that low of 35 on Saturday. That reminds me to tell the UW PR folks to fire up the heaters in the press box.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— Here’s my notebook for today’s paper, leading off with a Jake Locker health update but also including a note on OSU center Alex Linnenkohl, an Olympia native who says the Huskies were slow to give him an offer. Linnenkohl has started 31 straight games for the Beavers.
Bud Withers picks OSU 40-27.
— Withers also has his weekly college football column with lots of news and notes around the nation.
— GoHuskies.com has a nice story on the UW offensive line (some of whom broke a media boycott to talk to the school’s official site — most of those guys haven’t talked to us all season and none were available this week).
Ted Miller with a good stat on Locker in his weekly “did you know?” entry. Locker had 110 yards rushing against USC, and has 106 in the other four.
— The UW Daily’s coverage is available on-line.
— The Corvallis Gazette-Times notes that mobile QBs have bothered OSU recently.
— GT beat guy Cliff Kirkpatrick examines the QB matchup in this game and wonders if the torch could be passed.
— Here’s an interesting statistical breakdown of the two teams, as well as comparing their stats to the NCAA average.
— Here’s more on the weather.
— Here’s the daily OSU roundup from The Oregonian.
— Lots of good Pac-10 links from Ken Goe and Vince Grippi.
All for now.
