Live chat at noon, and morning links

Back by popular (to use the term loosely) demand, it’s our weekly live chat. We’ll hold it today at noon.
Now, onto the links. …
— Here’s my story for today, focusing on Hau’oli Jamora and UW’s increasing pass rush the last few games.
One quote that didn’t make the story was this from Oregon State coach Mike Riley when I asked him on the Pac-10 conference call yesterday about UW’s pass rush in Saturday’s game:

“They do a great job of mixing things up and I think that that was the element in the game that was disruptive, and I think their individual players are growing and getting better and doing a good job. We had some problems with it and it caused us some disruption and I think that the variety was the key.”

— This isn’t directly related to football, but Percy Allen has a story today on the school’s attempts to get a naming rights sponsor for Hec Ed.
Bud Withers’ Pac-10 notebook notes that the uniforms UCLA (fixed typo there) will wear tomorrow night are made by adidas.
Gregg Bell of GoHuskies.com looks at the maturation of Chris Polk.
— Lots of good stuff from the Arizona Daily Star today (here’s their main UA page), including a video preview, a feature on QB Matt Scott, who is taking over for Nick Foles, an item looking at the pending Pac-10/12 division announcement, and a Pac-10 notebook.
— More UA coverage from Anthony Gimino’s Wildcat Report blog.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller also has a nice feature on Scott.
— ESPN.com’s Greg Biggins has lots of good stuff on his recruiting blog, (though you have to be an ESPN Insider to get it all) including an update on the visit this weekend of Arizona RB/DB Kelvin Fisher, Jr., who says he was tempted to commit on the spot. Biggins also writes that DL Greg Townsend Jr., of Beverly Hills is close to finalizing the five schools he will visit and has USC and UW at the top of his list, and that Class of 2012 athlete Derrick Woods of Inglewood remains high on UW but just picked up an offer from UCLA. (And for those who have asked me for more recruiting coverage, it’s hard to juggle that in-season — and frankly, since the season is so short, I prefer to concentrate on the season itself during the season itself. But I will continue to pass along the significant events — I will always post news of any commitment or really significacnt happening with a really significant recruit. And I plan to do the same as last year and do more recruiting-type stuff once the season is over).
— ESPN has UW’s 2011 Class rated 22nd in its latest rankings, updated this week. That’s fourth in the Pac-10 after USC (13), Stanford (14) and Oregon (19).
— A short item on UW QB commit Joseph Gray of Dorsey is included in this notebook.
— BetFirms.com says to take Arizona, that the UA defense will be enough to make up for the QB issues.
— Lots of Pac-10 links from Vince Grippi.
All for now.
