About two-and-a-half hours still remaining until the 7:21 p.m. kickoff.
But there is lots of activity here in Tucson.
As I type this at about 5 p.m., there are about 500 members of the Zona Zoo student section already in their seats, most wearing red.
This is obviously a big game for both teams. Arizona can become bowl eligible by winning this one. At 5-1, the Wildcats would have the sixth win needed to guarantee a third straight bowl game with a win.
As for UW, this is a big swing game to get to a bowl, which we’ve discussed all week.
Early word from talking to a few people is that UW may be down another starter tonight. Sounds as if Victor Aiyewa is unlikely to play with a knee injury. Sounds as if Mason Foster will move to Aiyea’s spot — the same spot Foster played all last season — with Princeton Fuimaono likely getting the start at what had been Foster’s spot, but filling in for Aiyewa.
Aiyewa, as we wrote on here during the week, had been limited in practices, though the apparent severity of the injury wasn’t evident at the time. Obviously, something to watch once the game begins.
As for the pictures, the top is the outside of the stadium as we were walking in — not the most inviting college environment in the world, but once you are inside, it’s not a bad place to see a game, especially at sunset with the mountains in the background.
Middle is the UW truck bringing the equipment in — they drive it down from Seattle with all the football equipment each week.
Third is the field from the press box. We’re pretty high up here, but not quite like Husky Stadium.
Last is a picture I just had to include — a band playing in the parking lot of the Circle K right outside the stadium. Not exactly the picturesque tailgating. Mostly ’80s tunes from the band, playing to a lot of people running in to buy beer, then running out to drink it.
And I’ll start the live chat at 5:45 p.m.
