Saturday morning links — Huskies to hit field later today

While this is a bye week for the Huskies, it’s not necessarily an off week.
With the UCLA game on Thursday, UW will begin its regular gameweek preparation today, simply moving the schedule up two days so that the Monday workout becomes Saturday, Tuesday=Sunday, etc. (UCLA is apparently not practicing since Monday is its usual day off, so its schedule is just a little bit different).
So I’ll be up at UW later tonight to see, most notably, if Jake Locker practices. UW coach Steve Sarkisian has said Locker will need to practice this week to be able to play against UCLA (something of a switch from the stance of the earlier weeks, probably in part due to the severity of the injury now and that Locker has missed so much time that he needs the work now to get back to being game-ready). Locker had practiced only on Thursday of each of the last two weeks before he played, so he hasn’t had a full week of practice since prior to the Oregon State game Oct. 16.
While I don’t know if we’ll learn everything today, we could get a little more clarity to Locker’s status today.
UW being off today means there aren’t as many links as usual to pass along, but here are a few things. …
— UW commit Joseph Gray had a rough night as Dorsey lost to Crenshaw 53-12. He completed just three of his first 21 passes.
— UW commit WR Kasen Williams caught eight passes for 181 yards as Skyline advanced. However, Connor Cree hurt his hamstring.
— And Aubrey Coleman scored twice as Walnut won again.
— Here the updated brackets for the state playoffs in the state of Washington.
Mike Bellotti is talking to Colorado.
— Lots of good stuff in Ken Goe’s daily links and also from Vince Grippi.
— And I agree with Goe — one of the best reads every Saturday is the notes package from Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star. He notes how banged up Arizona is and picks USC.
— Here’s a story on a still-active CFL lineman whose claim to fame is catching a TD pass from Sarkisian.
All for now.
