Just the facts: UCLA edition

Here’s the unedited version of the scouting report that will appear in Thursday’s paper:
UCLA (4-5, 2-4), Washington (3-6, 2-4)
Time: 5 p.m. at Husky Stadium TV: ESPN Radio: 950 AM The line: Huskies by 2.5.
The setup: For the Huskies, it’s a must-win to get to a bowl game as UW has to win each of its last three just to get to 6-6. Lose tonight, and bowl hopes are gone other than the remote chance of losing teams getting invites. UCLA is in a similar situation needing to win two of its last three to get to 6-6 and surely looking at the Huskies as the most winnable of those opponents.
What to expect: UCLA has become predominantly a running team and may turn even more to the ground tonight if the weather is nasty. UCLA runs primarily out of its Pistol offense and will try to establish dominance up front. UW has Jake Locker back at QB for what is his last home game and figures to try to get its running game going, as well, while choosing opportune times to throw against a so-so Bruin pass defense.
Notes: UCLA leads the series 38-29-2 thanks in part to a recent dominating run of 11 wins in the last 13 games. UCLA won last year in Pasadena 24-23 and UW hasn’t beaten the Bruins since a 29-19 win in Seattle in 2006. … The game is a rare weeknight contest for the Huskies. Since World War II, UW has not played on a weeknight other than bowl games or on the road or neutral sites. … It’s actually one of three non-Saturday games for UCLA this year, including a Thursday nighter last month at Oregon and a Friday game next week at Arizona State. … The game is the last at home for 17 UW seniors who will be honored before the game in a ceremony to start with eight minutes left on the pre-game clock. … UW will wear black uniforms for the game. …
Injuries: UW — RB Deontae Cooper (knee), P Will Mahan (knee) each out for the season; DE Talia Crichton (knee), DL Cameron Elisara (shoulder), RB Johri Fogerson (hip) out this week; S Sean Parker (stinger) probable; QB Jake Locker (ribs) will play.
UCLA — QB Kevin Prince (knee), LB Patrick Larimore (shoulder) out; WR Nelson Rosario (ankle) probable.
Upset possibility: The oddsmakers regard this game essentially as a toss-up, UW favored essentially due to the homefield advantage. If UCLA gets its running game going out of the Pistol, then the Bruins can definitely pull it off. UW hopes the return of Locker and the emotion of Senior Night and the rarity of a Thursday night ESPN game will stave off the Bruins.
Key matchup: UW’s defensive front seven against UCLA’s offensive line. The Bruins have rushed for 210 yards or more in their four wins but held under 200 yards rushing in each of their five losses. So that seems the magic number for Thursday night.
Prediction: UW 24, UCLA 21.
