Wednesday morning links — and Live Chat at noon

First off, I’ll hold a live chat at noon today to talk about the season that was and the bowl game ahead and whatever else.
Now, onto some links. …
— We had a couple of stories on the ticket and travel situation for the Holiday Bowl. First is my story looking at the numbers sold through the first day (UW sold about 5,000) and also why the bowl expects a pretty full house every year regardless of the opponent. I also hadn’t realized just how close the bowl was to getting Notre Dame, a team it has never had. Simply put, if UW hadn’t qualified, Notre Dame would have played in the Holiday Bowl against whatever Big 12 team ended up there (and in that scenario, who knows for sure if it would have been Nebraska?)
— And our travel writer, Carol Pucci, has some tips on making plans and also notes that high prices are frustrating some fans.
— UW LB Mason Foster was named to the Rivals.com All-America team, as were four players from Nebraska.
— HuskerExtra.com also explores the ticket-selling issue from the Nebraska standpoint and concludes that sales are down from what they might have been if NU was going somewhere else, but that the school is likely to eventually sell its allotment.
— The Omaha World-Herald has lots of notes on Nebraska, with its own ticket update.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller came up with his own All-Pac-10 team and included Jermaine Kearse along with Mason Foster.
— Miller also has a Pac-10 year in review.
— The Oregonian reports that Jacquizz Rodgers is staying for his last season at Oregon State.
— The Orange County Register says it won’t be a great post-season for the Pac-10.
George Schroeder in Eugene writes about his Heisman vote.
All for now.
