Another new Husky? Reports say Feeney commits to Huskies

The double-Woofing of UW coach Steve Sarkisian on his Twitter page tonight did indeed apparently mean another new Husky, as there are multiple reports that the Huskies have landed a commitment from safety Travis Feeney of Pinole, Calif.

Listed at 6-3, 200, Feeney had been committed to Arizona since August but had recently decided to re-open his recruitiment and visited UW last weekend.
Feeney confirmed his commitment to RealDawg.com while Dawgman.com also reported his decision.

He has a two-star rating with no national rating at his position by Scout.com,

Feeney was also named to the All-East Bay Team by the Contra Costa Times, which said that “few defensive players in the East Bay were more feared” than Feeney, who could also end up as a linebacker for the Huskies.

Here’s part of what the ESPN scouting report of Feeney said:

“Feeney is an active player demonstrating the ability to play tough against the run. Lines up as a strong safety / outside linebacker showing the size and athleticism for either position at the major level of competition; the question is how big will this guy get? … This prospect has the motor and intensity to make plays all over the field. Feeney does not appear to be an immediate starter at the major level of competition. It may take some time and perhaps a red shirt year to polish his coverage skills, regardless once ready to play he should have a productive career at the BCS level.”

He’s the 25th high school commit for UW’s Class of 2011.

And here’s some video of Feeney:

BRISSETT UPDATE — Also a little bit of news on the Jacoby Brissett front tonight from ESPN760.com, which reports that UW offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier visited with Brissett’s mom at work. It also quotes Brissett’s coach, Jack Daniels, as saying that Brissett’s mom remains concerned about the distance. Brissett is expected to take a visit to Miami this weekend.
