Friday afternoon notes

A few notes to pass along as we head into last weekend before signing day. …

— And that may be a good place to start, with the schedule of what happens now. Recruits can make visits this weekend, but then it becomes a quiet period on Sunday and then a dead period on Monday (meaning no contact other than that recruits can call coaches) through Wednesday, when the signing period begins.

— At the moment, there remain the same four visitors to UW as detailed earlier — Marvin Hall, Nick Holt, Kendrick Van Ackeren and Thomas Vincent. Mason Kelley of our staff confirmed that after Van Ackeren initially thought about not making his visit that he decided that he will make it, leaving after he plays in a basketball game tonight for Bellevue. As always, there are rumors of possibly more names being added, but for now, that’s what’s confirmed.

— The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported tonight that Jacoby Brissett is indeed making his visit to Miami and that he has eliminated Florida State, making for a final four of Miami, Washington, Wisconsin and Florida.

— Some of you have asked me about rumors of UW commits Corey Waller and Kameron Jackson of Long Beach Poly possibly again considering Cal, with Waller potentially making a visit there this weekend. There’s no confirmation anywhere that he is, however. And I talked briefly to Long Beach Poly coach Raul Lara who said he didn’t know about any trip but that both players “remain committed to Washington.”

— is reporting that lineman Stephan Nembot is visiting Colorado this weekend. He committed to UW last week after switching from WSU and sounds like he may still at least be a little bit less than 100 percent solid.

— I talked today to Juanita High coach Shaun Tarantola, who said that DE/LB Jarett Finau will find out Monday if he will be able to enroll at UW in time for spring football. He said Finau will sign his letter in a ceremony at Juanita at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday. Austin Seferian-Jenkins has already said he will enroll early.

— Also, got additional word today that lineman Maataua Brown is almost certain not to qualify and may not sign a letter on Wednesday, though apparently that hasn’t been decided yet. But even if he does, he’s almost sure to head to a JC. So if you throw Brown out of the class and with Thomas Tutogi already enrolled, it’s most accurate to say UW has 24 commits

— Here’s a little more on Travis Feeney’s switch from Arizona to UW from his hometown paper.

— Here’s yet another explanation of what USC may be doing scholarship-wise.

—’s Ted Miller has a quick video look forward and back at the Huskies.

All for now.
