Not that it even seems much like news anymore given all the speculation of the last few days, but quarterback Jacoby Brissett of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., officially chose Florida as the school he will sign with tonight.
Brissett had also considered Washington — taking a trip to UW in late January — along with Miami and Wisconsin. UW’s recruitment of Brissett was always perceived as something of a long shot, but various reports indicated he seriously considered the Huskies, with distance being among the factors in not choosing Washington. UW had gotten into the race for Brissett late but it was reported that he grew a liking to Husky offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
UW signed Derrick Brown as a true QB for this class and JC transfer Antavius Sims, who may get some looks at QB after playing that spot at Ventura College, though his main position to begin figures to be cornerback.
UW also has Keith Price and Nick Montana as returning QBs in 2011.
Here’s the story on his decision from the Palm Beach Post.
Brissett’s decision appears to put an end to UW’s Class of 2011 — he was the last uncommitted player considering UW.
