Thursday night notes — Oregon at center of NCAA inquiry

Well, I’m actually in Arizona as I type this, getting set to help out with our Mariner coverage for the next day 10 days, filling in for Geoff Baker, who will get a little break in the middle of spring training.

I did this same duty last year, and tried to keep the UW football blog going then as well as I could. So I also will try to keep it going again this year (I have a few scheduled things ready to go, such as the rest of the position previews, as well as another couple items in the wings).

The big news tonight, however, concerns an NCAA investigation into recruiting services that centers on Oregon. Lots of details here in an ESPN.com that makes it clear that this may be bigger than just looking at one school but at an issue that doesn’t appear to have much NCAA regulation (in other words, not sure I’d start counting on heavy penalties for the Ducks just yet). Here’s more from The Oregonian.
Here also is a story from CoachSark’s site on a visit by UW players to Children’s Hospital.
