I can confirm a SportsPressNW report tonight that UW running back Johri Fogerson has been indefinitely suspended.
This obviously is little surprise given Fogerson’s arrest last week for on suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
A UW spokesman said tonight that per athletic department policy Fogerson was automatically suspended after his arrest and that at this time, UW coach Steve Sarkisian hasn’t opted to lift the suspension.
Fogerson’s suspension falls in line with this UW policy that reads:
When a student-athlete has been arrested or charged with a violation of criminal law, the student-athlete will be placed on administrative suspension from all team activities pending further investigation. If the alleged criminal activity would constitute a misdemeanor offense, the head coach may lift the administrative suspension after obtaining the approval of the sport administrator. If the alleged criminal activity would constitute a felony, the administrative suspension may be lifted only upon authorization of the Director of Athletics.
UW begins spring football on March 29 and Fogerson had been expected to compete for a backup tailback role.
