Another new Husky?

It appears so as Scout.com is reporting today that the Huskies have received their first commitment for the Class of 2012 from running back Tairen Owens of Muir High in Pasadena.

Scout.com reports that UW gave Owens his first offer last week and he decided to jump on it, giving the word today. He was being recruited by UW cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin, who is a graduate of Muir.

The 5-9, 165-pound Owens had 822 yards rushing on 107 attempts last season and also had 21 receptions, likely also looming as a return candidate.

Here is his MaxPreps’ statistical profile, also showing him playing cornerback on defense though he told Scout.com he is being recruited for offense — he could also be a slot receiver.
