Spring roster out — UPDATED Aldrich, Ikehara not on roster

The dawning of spring practice also means UW has updated its football roster.

And there’s two notable omissions — defensive end Kalani Aldrich. No explanation given yet, but he’s battled knee issues throughout his career and as a fifth-year senior, may just be giving up the game.

Aldrich figured to vie for a backup spot this season after making four tackles in 13 games last season.

Also not on the roster is OL Mykenna Ikehara, also apparently simply not returning to the team for 2011. He would have been a junior vying for backup time on the OL this season. He played sparingly last year.

Also, while Austin Seferian-Jenkins is listed, Jarett Finau — who also had been expected to enroll in time for spring — is not, so we’ll see at noon what the situation is with that, as well. Finau is listed among the 21 incoming recruits.

And Johri Fogerson, who is indefinitely suspended but has a chance to return to the team, remains on the roster, as well.

The PDF version also designates those who are walk-ons. It lists 85 total players for the spring (those coming in the fall are not on the roster) with 19 walk-ons.

UPDATED — The earlier information on Kiel Rasp was incorrect. He remains listed as a walk-on, officially.

So, I have 66 players currently listed as on scholarship, with 21 due to arrive in the fall. The number of scholarship players includes a few former walk-ons put on scholarship last fall, however, so there’s some wiggle room there to get to the limit of 85, which doesn’t have to be reached until late September when everyone enrolls.
