Tuesday afternoon update — Huskies getting ready to go, and Pro Day lineup revealed

I’m back in the saddle in the UW press room, getting ready for the first spring practice of the season.

And that practice will be held outdoors in the stadium despite what’s been a pretty steady rain. Just to make sure, I asked UW coach Steve Sarkisian when I ran into him in the hallway on my way here. He said “of course” laughed a little and said “it’s beautiful outside.”

So, if you’re coming, be prepared.

And speaking of Sarkisian, his site today has the list of UW players who will be participating in Pro Day. No real surprises as it’s basically all the graduating seniors from last season (and you see three guys who can receive, all of whom I would imagine will be busy catching passes from Jake Locker). It also has a list of media that will be covering the event.

IN OTHER NEWS. …

— Obviously, big news breaking today on the Fiesta Bowl, which could be in danger of losing its spot in the BCS for a variety of financial misdeeds over the past few years (and leaving little wonder why everyone always talked about what a good time that bowl was).

— If you ever wondered what Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez sounds like, here you go, as he finally gave an interview on Monday (he didn’t speak before the Holiday Bowl last year or before the first game against UW). He didn’t say much other than making it clear he was nowhere near 100 percent physically by the end of the season.

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has a bunch of links from around the Pac-12, most notable of which is that Cal coach Jeff Tedford says he will again call the plays for the Bears this season.

More later.
