Locker on cover of ESPN Magazine

There’s obviously been no shortage of stories examining Jake Locker’s draft status, and his decision a year ago to return.

But maybe the definitive piece appears in the latest ESPN The Magazine, as Seth Wickersham talks to a few NFL scouts who broke down UW’s game last year against Oregon State. He also followed Locker to a few of his pre-draft workouts.

The story essentially uses Locker as a case study to examine what it calls the “wildly subjective world of QB evaluation.”

Some of the stuff in the breakdown of the UW-Oregon State game is especially revealing for Husky fans.

What is likely the ultimate truth on Locker is stated in a quote near the bottom of the story — that despite the many varying ways of assessing his UW career “he’s too talented to slip far.”
