Friday night update — More on Foster, Lindquist, Locker, QBs

An awful lot going on tonight, so I’ll post one more entry here to try to wrap it up. …

— I had a chance to talk with Mason Foster tonight after he was drafted by Tampa Bay. Here’s what he said.

— You can watch the Tampa Bay brass talk here about taking Foster. The first thing mentioned by GM Mark Dominik is that all the players they drafted were captain. Also mentioned is that they liked his versatility and for now, he’s just classified as a linebacker and not at any specific spot. It’s Dominik also states that they liked that Foster was good in coverage and that his high tackle numbers speak to his instincts.

Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris echoes that they liked his versatility and his evident love for the game of football and also that Foster could play as many as four positions, something they valued with the uncertainity of free agency this season.

— Here’s my story previewing UW’s spring game and Steve Sarkisian’s comments after practice today that he might name a No. 1 QB heading into the fall. Also included is some reaction to Jake Locker’s draft selection.

— Here’s Mason Kelley’s story on the commitment to UW today of Mercer Island QB Jeff Lindquist.

— And here’s the transcript of Locker’s press conference today in Tennessee.

— Here’s the AP wrapup of Locker’s press conference, and from The Tennessean.

— ESPN.com’s Mike Sando writes that the Seahawks didn’t want to face the decision of whether to take Locker.

— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller compares Locker and Marques Tuiasosopo in his mailbag.

All for now.
