Monday links — Heading into the off-season

With spring practice over, the Huskies now head into the off-season. Players will continue with conditioning through the end of school, another month or so, while coaches will hit the road recruiting this month.

Then comes the summer, when coaches run camps and take some time off, while players attend summer school and participate in organized conditioning and voluntary workouts.

I wrote this story for today’s paper to wrap up the spring and assess each position heading into the off-season.

IN OTHER NEWS. …

— The Sporting News has an item on Jeff Lindquists’s commitment.

Jim Mora says if Jake Locker hadn’t been taken by the Titans, he might have slid for a little while.

— Oregon’s off-season got off to a bad start with the arrest of linebacker Kiko Alonso over the weekend. That came after the Ducks set a Pac-10 record for spring game attendance.

— The man at the center of the Oregon recruiting service deal denies any wrongdoing.

Jon Wilner examines the NFL Draft from a college perspective.

— Lots of Pac-10 guys, but no Huskies, on Rivals.com’s list of the best undrafted players.

— Stanford got a commitment over the weekend from heralded DT Aziz Shittu, who had visited UW just last week.

All for now.
